South Gloucestershire Council’s Children’s Social Care services have been formally recognised for their significant progress. The Department for Education (DfE) has lifted its Improvement Notice, originally issued in 2021, as part of the ongoing improvement efforts.
A Milestone in the Council’s Improvement Journey
The DfE praised the council’s “encouraging” pace of progress over the past year. It also highlighted the council’s strong commitment to long-term, sustainable improvements in Children’s Services, demonstrating the success of the strategies for improving South Glos Children’s Services.
While there’s still more to do, this milestone shows the council is moving in the right direction. Improvement in South Gloucestershire Children’s Services offers reassurance that children and families are receiving better support as efforts continue.

The council remains committed to strengthening Children’s Social Care as part of the South Gloucestershire Children’s Services Improvement plans. This includes:
