Working alongside young people and their networks therapeutically.
WAYPOINT is a South Gloucestershire Council service offering trauma‑informed, therapeutic support to foster carers, the children they care for, and the children of foster carers—helping to strengthen relationships, stabilise placements, and ensure every member of the fostering family feels supported and understood.
WAYPOINT services
WAYPOINT provides trauma‑informed support for children, young people, families and carers.
Services include support to prevent family breakdown, help to stabilise foster placements, and guidance for children of foster carers.
“Charlotte has helped me a lot over the years. Over the time she was supporting me, we’d meet up regularly to chat about what’s happening. She supported me with the transition from school to college, and then moving to university.”
– Megan, Service User
The service also assists transitions from residential care and provides Therapeutic Life Story Work for Children in Care, with additional tailored support available for SGO carers.
“Life story work helped me understand my life from a different perspective and see things from a different angle, and it made my mind a lot more clearer. I think life story work for any young person is a massive help, it helped me a lot.”
– Service User
