Fostering is… everything
What you do with your life can forever change someone else’s.
When you choose to foster, the love and stability you offer can transform a child’s entire future. You don’t need superpowers to be a foster carer. All you need is an open heart, a spare bedroom, and the commitment to provide a nurturing, safe, and supportive home for a child.
Why foster with us?
We’re not-for-profit
We operate as a strictly not-for-profit fostering service. Unlike independent fostering agencies, all our resources are dedicated to supporting the lives of the young people in our care and our foster families across South Gloucestershire.
We keep children local
By fostering with us, you help ensure that local children can remain in South Gloucestershire, maintaining important relationships with friends, family and school, accessing after-school clubs and much more.
Financial support
We offer a competitive financial package of up to £30k a year (for each child in your care), including an annual allowance package worth up to £2,500 to support with birthdays, holidays and religious festivals. Plus additional payments for specialist roles, as well as allowances.
Matching process
It’s our job to work closely with you to find the most suitable match between you and a foster child. We understand that every child is unique, and we strive to find the best possible match to ensure a successful relationship.
Training
You will receive comprehensive training and opportunities for ongoing professional development to equip you with all the skills and knowledge you need to be an exceptional Foster Carer.
Dedicated Support
With your own supervising social worker, access to an out-of-hours helpline, support groups and peer mentoring, there are many ways you will be supported as a foster carer.
Our new fostering film “Everything,” launched on 17 October 2024, showcasing the impact of fostering through the experiences of Mike and his family, as well as two former foster children, Will and Zara. The film was developed with the input and insight of foster carers and people with care experience, was produced by Reel Twenty Five and project managed by public sector media partner CAN Digital. Produced by over 100 councils, it emphasises the lasting relationships formed through fostering. Councillor Simon Johnson highlights fostering’s potential to change lives and encourages people to consider becoming foster carers.
