On a delightful spring Wednesday, our children and young people in foster care enjoyed an Easter-eggstravaganza at Grimsbury Community Farm.
Our children and young people enjoyed a variety of fun Easter activities. They participated in a Trail Egg Hunt, exploring the farm, meeting new piglets and lambs, and searching for letters. These letters formed a special word, allowing them to claim a prize, such as a delicious Easter egg, a soft toy, or an activity book. These prizes were generously donated by Reynolds Catering Supplies Bristol Depot and South Gloucestershire Council employees.
Olly Maby, Senior Social Worker, shared, “The Easter event brings children in care together, creating a safe space where they can connect with others who understand their experiences. It’s a chance for them to realise they’re not alone on their journey. In this supportive environment, they can simply be themselves, free from the fear of standing out or feeling different. It’s about having fun, playing, and enjoying time with the people who care for them.”
Creativity was in full bloom as children engaged in various Easter-themed crafts. They made beautiful flower baskets, edible bonnets, colourful window decorations, and Easter crowns.
The highlight of the afternoon was a special visit from the Easter Bunny, bringing joy and excitement to everyone. Foster families brought along picnics, and everyone enjoyed doughnuts and waffles for pudding.
Louise Thomas, Fostering Team Manager for Kinship Care, remarked, “What an absolutely incredible day! The joy was contagious as children and carers came together, laughing, playing, and making unforgettable memories. Smiles lit up every corner as they embraced the Easter spirit, soaking up the fun and excitement of the day. It was pure magic watching so much happiness in one place!”
