We’re delighted to share that our sixth Mockingbird Constellation is now up and running. It brings vital support and connection to fostering families in South Gloucestershire. This latest constellation will support six fostering families in the Yate area. It marks another important step in growing our Mockingbird community.
At the heart of this new constellation are our dedicated Home Hub Carers, Rachael and Dan. As experienced carers, they will provide guidance, practical help, and emotional support to the families involved. This will help build strong relationships and a sense of belonging. Through their leadership, families will be able to access support, advice, and connection whenever it’s needed most.
What is the Mockingbird Programme?
Led by by The Fostering Network, the Mockingbird Programme is a pioneering approach to foster care. It creates extended, family‑style support networks for carers, children, and young people. Each constellation brings together up to ten fostering households. These households are connected through a central Hub Home Carer who offers ongoing support and coordination.
By building strong peer relationships between fostering families, Mockingbird helps reduce isolation, improve placement stability, and strengthen confidence in carers. Furthermore, it also creates more consistent and positive experiences for children. They benefit from a wider support network and a stronger sense of belonging.
Families within a constellation can access a range of support, including regular social activities, peer‑to‑peer guidance, planned respite, and help during key transitions.

Mockingbird in South Gloucestershire continues to go from strength to strength, creating a more connected and supportive fostering community.
The programme has expanded steadily, enabling more families to benefit from a network of peer support, shared experiences and practical help. As a result, foster carers feel more confident, valued and less isolated, while children and young people experience greater stability and a stronger sense of belonging.

As our Mockingbird programme continues to grow, we are always looking for experienced foster carers, or those with strong transferable skills, who would be interested in becoming Home Hub Carers. These roles are vital in creating and sustaining the supportive communities that make Mockingbird so impactful.
